Arteus Cards Launch at Derby Museum of Making

The Museum of Making in Derby city centre

It was a massive privilege and a pleasure to provide a little magic at the fantastic launch of Pictoria’s Arteus card deck. This highly innovative and beautifully designed deck of fifty two prompt cards invites us to unlock our creativity and unleash the inner artist. Please click video link for a short film about the cards: Arteus Card Deck.

Pictoria welcoming the Mayor of Derby Ged Potter to the launch of her fantastic Arteus card deck.

The magical environs of Derby’s Museum of Making provided the ideal mise en scene for such a special and unique occasion. Guests from all backgrounds and generations gathered to marvel at Pictoria’s diverse range of artwork on display, as well as her captivating presentation on the Arteus deck itself.

Pictoria with the High Sheriff of Derbyshire, Ian Morgan OBE.

The Mayor of Derby Ged Potter and the High Sheriff of Derbyshire Ian Morgan OBE were in attendance, and it was tremendous to mingle with the guests and provide some close-up magic during drinks reception. Many of Pictoria’s art students, friends and members of the community – who she has profoundly influenced with her talents – had braved the elements on an autumnal Derbyshire evening to enjoy the spectacle.

Some of Pictoria’s exceptional artwork was on display. Easels were kindly provided by Michelle of Nice Love and Wishes.

I have had the pleasure of working alongside Pictoria at weddings and special events around the Derbyshire area. As well as being a talented artist, Pictoria is also a highly accomplished photographer. Find out more about her first class service at: Pictoria Pictures

The brilliant Kaine Chapman of Fulgur Photography was on hand to capture all of those magical moments throughout the evening. I really appreciate Kaine sending me these images and allowing me to use them in this article. You can find out more about Kaine on his Instagram page: Fulgur Photography

It was wonderful to entertain such a lovely group of guests. Photograph courtesy of Kaine Chapman, Fulgur Photography.

Close-up magic always provides an opportunity to bring people together and helps to create a positive atmosphere at any event. It was also very interesting to hear everyone’s enthusiastic opinions regarding Pictoria’s outstanding Arteus deck when I performed at close quarters.

Pictoria also invited me to perform a short magic show prior to her presentation of the Arteus Deck. Photograph courtesy of Kaine Chapman, Fulgur Photography.

Overall, it was a superb evening at Derby’s Museum of Making. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you contact Pictoria to order your very own Arteus card deck! Or you can order your pack on Etsy via this link: Order your Arteus Prompt Cards Here.

Also, the museum is a tremendous attraction, and can be hired for special occasions such as networking events, parties, weddings and exhibitions. Find out more about this city centre gem at: Derby Museums

At the time of writing, Pictoria’s Arteus project has raised a fantastic £500 to help towards the upkeep of Derby Museums! Well done to everyone who has supported this outstanding initiative by attending the launch night and/or purchasing the superb product! Pictoria is immensely appreciative for all your help!

Happy Birthday Mr Blake!

‘Here is the finished piece that my Dad just loves! Thanks again.’

Jamie Blake

I am delighted that my good friend Jamie Blake and his partner Rachel made it over to Phoenix, Arizona to celebrate Jamie’s Dad’s 86th birthday with him recently. It has been a tough time over the past couple of years as families have been unable to mix due to the pandemic. I was even more ecstatic when I discovered that Jamie’s Dad liked the artwork of Glasgow City Chambers and Ibrox Stadium (home of Rangers Football Club) that I created.

Happy birthday Mr Blake!

Jamie’s Dad is a fellow Scotsman and lifelong Rangers supporter, so it is a tremendous honour to have this artwork hanging on the wall of his home in The Grand Canyon State! I first met Jamie and his son Jack – who plays professional football for San Diego Loyal – when performing magic at a house party in Nottingham several years ago, and we became good friends. Jamie is very passionate about football and it is always great to chat to him about the Beautiful Game. Indeed, it was a tremendous privilege and a pleasure to entertain guests at Jamie’s partner Rachel’s special birthday bash in Nottingham in 2019. See article here: Rachel’s Party.
