It was a tremendous privilege to entertain everyone on Molly and Will’s wedding day at the fantastic Bentley Brook Inn, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Guests had travelled from far and wide to be there, and I thoroughly enjoyed providing close-up magic and table magic during both drinks reception and the early evening celebrations.

Card trickery, sleight-of-hand, mind-reading and captivating illusions always go down very well when the guests are enjoying a drink immediately after the ceremony. Some of Molly and Will’s guests had travelled all the way from Belgium to share this very special day, so it was great to perform a little magic speaking French too!

It was a pleasure to help kick off the evening revelries with some table-side entertainment. The period from the end of the wedding breakfast until the first dance is a fine time to amaze both day guests and evening arrivals with illusions and interactive magic effects. It’s always great to be able to include all generations on a wedding day too: from grandchildren to grandparents.

This is a superb period to entertain all of the guests, and magic really helps to liven things up and bring everyone together before the evening revelries begin.

I was delighted when Sam and Dan decided to call upon my services to entertain everyone on their wedding day at the fantastic Lower Damgate Farm. It was a pleasure and a privilege to provide table magic during wedding breakfast, and close-up entertainment throughout the early evening reception. The guests were a joy to perform magic for, and it was great to work alongside the tremendous Victoria Wilcox of Pictoria Pictures who expertly captured all those special moments from the big day.

It was tremendous to perform magic at the lovely Vicky and James’s wedding day at Stancliffe Hall near Matlock, Derbyshire last September. We were blessed with glorious sunshine, and it was a pleasure and a privilege to entertain alongside the exceptional Matt Lowe (photographer) who very kindly provided these outstanding images.

Vicky and James had requested that I provide entertainment during both drinks reception period (immediately after the ceremony) and during early evening (from the end of wedding breakfast to first dance). These are always excellent times for some ‘mix-and-mingle’ close-up magic.

The newlyweds’ guests were a joy to entertain, and I was delighted to be able to perform my full repertoire of card magic, classic illusions, mind-reading and sleight-of-hand in the stunning gardens of Stancliffe Hall. Matt expertly captured the action, and the photographs in this article reveal his tremendous talents as an award-winning wedding day photographer.

The beauty of close-up magic is that it can be performed virtually anywhere. I have adapted and modified my act over the years so that my routines can be delivered in different environments and under varying conditions. It was a bonus to provide an impromptu parlour show of magic for a larger group of Vicky and James’s guests after the ceremony in the courtyard.

It is always fantastic to entertain all the generations on a wedding day. One of the qualities of magic is that it appeals to all age groups and brings guests closer together. It was wonderful to provide a little child-friendly entertainment, along with balloon modelling, for Vicky and James’s lovely friends and family.

It truly was a magical day at Stancliffe Hall, and thank you again Vicky and James for calling upon my services. It was also wonderful to see you and your family and friends again last Christmas for your special party at the The Edgefold Club in Matlock! Happy Birthday David!

I have had so many positive comments, everyone loved the spectacle

It was a tremendous pleasure and a privilege to entertain David’s friends and family at the Royal Oak in Quorn. It was a very special birthday celebration, and attendees had travelled from far and wide to share this important occasion.

Indeed, I was very flattered when Audrey (David’s partner) contacted me to find out if I was available. It was very kind of Helen (Audrey’s sister who I have performed magic for before at work events) to recommend my services.

The Royal Oak is a fine venue which is located on High Street, Quorn and I thoroughly enjoyed providing close-up ‘mix-and-mingle’ magic for David and his guests. Card effects, sleight-of-hand and mysterious illusions are always great ice-breakers and talking points at parties. They help to bring the guests closer together, and liven up the proceedings.

It was also fantastic to entertain the younger guests who were present with some child-friendly effects and balloon modelling too. It’s very important to include all of the generations at a birthday party so that everyone can share a magical experience!

It truly was a superb day at the Royal Oak with live music and much revelry. David celebrated his birthday in style, and it was fantastic to mingle with, and entertain, such a lovely group.

The big day had been rescheduled due to the pandemic, and I was delighted that the lovely couple and their friends and family finally had the opportunity to celebrate in style.

It was truly fantastic to entertain Annie, Dean and all their friends and family at the Sitwell Arms in May this year. I was very fortunate to meet the lovely couple at Nick and Beth’s wedding at Stubton Hall in 2019, and I was very flattered that they decided to call upon my services for their own special day.

Annie and Dean requested that I entertain everyone during their early evening reception. The period from the end of the wedding breakfast until the first dance is perfect for a close-up magician to circulate freely with the guests.

It was a pleasure to perform card magic, sleight-of-hand, classic illusions and mind-reading routines for all age groups. Annie and Dean’s friends and family were a joy to mix with, and it was fantastic to receive such a tremendous reaction.

In 2010 I was immensely fortunate to meet Marc, and he very kindly agreed to assist me with the development of my overall magical performance. At that time, I was performing at pubs, clubs and private events around the Midlands, but I was anxious to improve my act. Marc’s passion, enthusiasm and dedication to the magical art would have a profound and lasting impression upon me. His attention to detail, encyclopaedic knowledge of the art, exceptionally high standards, and seemingly interminable patience would take my show to a whole new level. What a tremendous day it was; celebrating the lovely Sophie and Chris’s wedding at Shustoke Barn, Coleshill in April of this year. The wedding had been delayed several times due to the pandemic, so it was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves at this exceptional Warwickshire venue!

Sophie and Chris asked me to entertain their guests during the period between the wedding breakfast and first dance. This is a great time to engage friends and family, and I was also able to provide both Bride and Groom with a special magical routine as well.

If you play with me, then you play with fire! The superb Damian Burcher was on hand to capture all of the action on the big day – and he never missed a beat – expertly photographing all those very special moments. It was very kind of Damian, Sophie and Chris to allow me to display these fantastic photographs on my blog!

Performing close-up magic and table magic for Sophie and Chris’s guests was a pleasure and a privilege. Happy Birthday Mr Blake!

I am delighted that my good friend Jamie Blake and his partner Rachel made it over to Phoenix, Arizona to celebrate Jamie’s Dad’s 86th birthday with him recently. It has been a tough time over the past couple of years as families have been unable to mix due to the pandemic. I was even more ecstatic when I discovered that Jamie’s Dad liked the artwork of Glasgow City Chambers and Ibrox Stadium (home of Rangers Football Club) that I created.

Jamie’s Dad is a fellow Scotsman and lifelong Rangers supporter, so it is a tremendous honour to have this artwork hanging on the wall of his home in The Grand Canyon State! I first met Jamie and his son Jack – who plays professional football for San Diego Loyal – when performing magic at a house party in Nottingham several years ago, and we became good friends. Jamie is very passionate about football and it is always great to chat to him about the Beautiful Game.
